When you look at all the reports, you see that this winter is supposed to be crazy cold and harsh. But so far across most of the country, this month of December has been incredibly warm compared to what you would think it should be. However, it's proven in the past that warm starts to the winter will turn nasty when the winter season really sets in.
With very cold temperatures, sleep can be very hard to do which is why you need to be prepared. Staying truly warm is much different than you think and it will go against everything that you think.
1. Use Your Fireplace
It's surprising to see that there are a lot of people that don't use their fireplace as much as they should in the winter. Granted it can make a mess and be tough to watch but the heat it gives off is a valuable asset to staying warm. Depending on how your home was built, just one fire can do an incredible job of keeping the whole place warm or at least a floor warm. Not to mention that it can save you lots of money on your energy bill.
2. No More Blankets On The Bed
This my be shocking to you because when it gets cold you always think to put on a bunch of blankets on your bed. But this will make your sleep insanely hot and that is what you want to avoid.
Your best bet is to use a bedding material that is proven to be insulate really well. What you should consider getting is a bedding like pure silk bedding for your sheets. Silk is very special in that it's great at insulation but at the same time, it is light and it won't make you insanely hot. They help to keep you a little cooler because they can breath really well which is something most sheets can't do so well.
3. Don't Wear Too Much Pajamas
This is actually the hardest part of sleeping in the cold. Think about waking up in the morning and how hard it is to get out of bed which is one of the reasons you need the right pajamas. The best fabrics for pajamas are either silk or bamboo. Then can keep you very warm just like the bedding but they will not have you get too hot while you are actually in bed which is an important consideration. The best option is having a robe you can use outside of your bed along with a hybrid pajamas set that is a mix of silk and bamboo or cotton.
